The high def battle continues as rival next gen DVD formats 'Blu-Ray' and 'HD DVD' continue to slug it out in stores. Xbox 360 owners may be familiar with the 'HD DVD Drive' available for the next gen console, but it seems Microsoft isn't tied down to one side as previously presumed.
In the past computing giant Microsoft have always commented strongly on there support for the 'HD DVD' format, but as recent sales data shows 'Blu-Ray' is quickly becoming the clear sales leader, outselling 'HD DVD' by a margin of 2 to 1 nearly every month. With these facts at hand it seems Microsoft may be looking into supporting 'Blu-Ray' especially considering the PlayStation 3 has a 'Blu-Ray' player built in.
Neil Thompson of Microsoft UK recently said:
"Whatever format wins it is highly likely we will offer a solution. The only debate is if you want to watch Blu-ray movies and pay the extra money for that feature. We prefer to offer the consumer choice."
So can 360 gamers expect the choice, and if so when...
