Fox 2000 and Fox Animation are in talks with GARFIELD: A TAIL OF TWO KITTIES-director Tim Hill to helm a CG/live-action feature adaptation of ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS, reports VARIETY. The script was written by Jon Vitti.
The original 1950s cartoon series was created by Ross Bagdasarian Sr., who also voiced the characters' distinctive high-pitched voices. The series followed mischievous group leader Alvin as he drags the tall and quiet Simon and chubby, impressionable Theodore in trouble.
Bagdasarian Prods.' Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and Janice Karman will produce. The late Ross Bagdasarian Sr. was the creator of "Alvin" and provided the characters' high-pitched voices.
Knowing the current trend going around in Hollywood with remaking classic 80s cartoons, this may either turn out to be ok, but most likely terrible. Voice your opinions on the forums.
